So Many Stars

Samba Brasil proudly announces the release of our first CD, “So Many Stars” on Empathy Records. Peppered throughout the CD are dynamic vocals by Catalina and Jeff, great jazz solos by Tim, Brazilian drumming by Gene, along with exciting vocal, string, horn and percussion arrangements. Nine of our original compositions are featured, along with Tom Jobim’s Girl From Ipanema, Sergio Mendes’ So Many Stars, and the immensely popular samba Tristeza. “So Many Stars” will be a joy to all of Samba Brasil’s enthusiastic fans, who have waited more than a year to own a recording which truly captures all of the excitement and color of a Samba Brasil show!

“Sparkling... breezy... sensuous... swinging” is what the critics are saying about Samba Brasil and its “simmering mix of Brazilian music and jazz.” Since 1994 the group has delighted with fresh variations on samba –the national dance of Brazil. Samba Brasil blends breezy vocals, folk percussion and jazz improvisation into a rich and rhythmic brew of samba, baião, batucada and bossa nova.
